This silence is uplifting
Somebody found the loophole
For this generation
The next will have to fend for themselves
Parading down the streets
Purple balloon strings
Tied tightly to their wrists
We'll reflect back on the faces we once made
Some intentional
Others meant to say more
Than any of us ever could
Out loud
We'll remember some of the advice
The kind that made us cringe a little bit
But nevertheless
The kind we took all in stride
The sensible ones
The erratic sons and daughters
Their potential for greatness
Or spiraling fates
Clogging veins
And making fools feel old
They'll know when it's their turn
But until then
I've been working hard
Getting lost
