Inflate Son

This silence is uplifting

Somebody found the loophole
For this generation

The next will have to fend for themselves
Parading down the streets
Purple balloon strings
Tied tightly to their wrists

We'll reflect back on the faces we once made
Some intentional
Others meant to say more
Than any of us ever could
Out loud

We'll remember some of the advice
The kind that made us cringe a little bit
But nevertheless
The kind we took all in stride

The sensible ones
The erratic sons and daughters
Their potential for greatness
Or spiraling fates

Clogging veins
And making fools feel old

They'll know when it's their turn
But until then

I've been working hard
Getting lost

i had a dream that we got the leftover pieces of metal track from a rollercoaster at Kennywood and constructed a rollercoaster inside of 709 that wrapped through the entire place. the track was purple and the cars were green and we had night time riding where all the lights were out and bands were playing. maybe if we had a rollercoaster inside then more people would use the venue?

The girl across the way watches me, unabashedly.
She embodies the closest thing to female grace I believe I have ever assumed upon.
I find myself becoming angry.
Her stillness is so pure I can almost feel her hair brushing my face before bed.
I wish I could look her in the eyes. I won't. I never will.

I miss the way
The night goes

mindless conversations
(the important, mindless conversations)
the rise,
the firecracker hour,
then the fall.

How everyone spreads like seeds
Clinging desperately
In those last moments

We used to walk
Arm in arm
On those nights
Back to my apartment
stumbling over the uneven pavement
the crooked sidewalks
and stubborn blacktop

We never clung to the wreckage
(never needed to)
like the others
Because we had each other

Is this who we're supposed to be?
Meaning to pretend
With the best intentions?

Harping on past juxtapositioning
Harvesting the spoiled carcasses
From times long since passed

Accepting invitations
To linger
Listen intently

Fall down
Eyes widened by the lights

Dimming whereabouts
Permanent vacations
Ignorant volumes of catalogued indifference

And the finale:
A structured ignorance
A lack of knowledge

A manageable emotional imbalance
A door closing
The accumulated rain water on the sofa

Long wet hair
A shared bottle
Bliss for now
